Our brasswind instructors work with each student to develop breath control and sound production. Adults may start any of these instruments at any time and be quite successful. Students under age nine may not be able to start brasswind instruments until they are tall enough and strong enough to physically support the instrument, to reach the valves, and/or to have enough lung power to sufficiently produce sound. Brasswinds require strong lungs with a good capacity. Therefore, we recommend younger children start with a recorder or piano for initial musical instruction. However, we will consider each potential student on an individual basis.
