COVID In-Person Lesson Update
Hello TKAM students & families!
As you may have already heard, Waterloo Region will be moving into Lockdown as of Dec 26th. We wholeheartedly understand and support the actions of Public Health, and know that we need to do everything possible to keep all of our students and teachers safe, so that we can all come together to make music in person once it is safe to do so!
Under these new guidelines, all of our lessons will be moving online temporarily until Lockdown has been lifted. As of right now, it looks like we will be online from Dec 26th until Jan 23rd. For many of our students, this means nothing needs to change as you are already learning online! Awesome! For those of you who have been doing in person lessons, we will be transitioning you over to Zoom lessons by Dec 26th.
For those of you who haven't done Zoom lessons before, we are excited to introduce you to our online lessons! Many of our students have opted to go entirely virtual over the last few months, because they love the ability of being able to learn an instrument from the comfort of their own home. For those of you who are new to Zoom lessons, you can learn more about the process below, or watch our intro to Zoom video here: https://youtu.be/vOoX0Q82Dr0
Your teacher has a link for a Zoom Room. At the time of your lesson, just click the link (that we will be sending you through email) from a phone, iPad or laptop. Start your camera and join audio. You’ll be able to see and hear your teacher!
Students can take a picture of their music and click “Share” and both teacher and student can view the music! Or, teachers can send a link in the “chat” for students to see music online at a specific URL.
If you want to scan in your music and send it to our front desk (firstname.lastname@example.org) we can get the music to your teacher. Drum students will need a drum kit or drum pad at home, if you do not have a drum pad currently contact us and we can set you up with one!
Your teacher will help you navigate HOW to have your lessons online but the most important thing to remember is to HAVE FUN!!
If there are any lesson books or materials that you need (such as drum pads, sheet music, etc.,) let us know and we will deliver them to you curbside. We want to make this transition as easy as possible for you!
If you have any questions regarding online lessons, please don't hesitate to reach out to Syd via email at email@example.com. She is more than happy to assist you, but please be mindful that we will likely be receiving a larger than usual amount of emails at this time, so it may take her a bit longer to respond. Rest assured, she will get back to you as soon as she is able!
If you need to make any changes to your current time slot due to the switch to Zoom lessons, let Syd know and she will work to find a temporary alternate time slot until we are able to return in person.
Thank you all for your understanding! We hope you are all doing well and keeping safe, and we will all get through this together!
