
Overview
Our string instructors will teach all styles of music, from learning to play by ear to reading music. If you want to play classical music or the fiddle, we have a teacher for you. Students can be as young as 5 years old, or younger with the teacher's approval. Our students love learning the fundamentals, as well as incorporating your favorite songs into their lessons. Our violin teachers have friendly personalities and love working with children and teens and adults!
Your child will change instruments as they grow. Our teachers will help you choose the right size violin for you!

How qualified are your instructors?
Here at TKAM, we only hire the best string instructors! Our instructors all have formal music education, and lessons are rooted in proper technique and theory.
What will I learn from string lessons at The Kitchener Academy of Music?
Our students spend time each week working on technical skills to improve their sound quality and intonation, but also have their favourite songs incorporated into the lessons so they finish with their favourite piece. Our violin teachers, through their care and expertise, will certainly nurture any student’s love of the violin.
Do I need to know how to read music?
Not at all! Beginners are welcome, and your teachers will teach you everything you need to know in your lessons.
Do I need a Violin, Viola, or Cello to learn the instrument?

How much do lessons cost?
$150/month for weekly 30 minute private lessons, with a one-time $25 registration fee. Longer lessons are available upon request, contact us at TKAMinfo@gmail.com for more information on extended lessons.
